The Engagement

I decided to start a blog today for all those who would like to know what is going on in my life in more detail than simply pictures and short sentences on facebook. I am excited to announce to the world that I am engaged to Lane Davidson, one of the best men in the whole world. Isn't it great that I think that? I have had several of my friend call or leave messages wanting to know the story about our proposal. I think it would be wise to type it up on my blog for all to read, instead of having to call every single person and telling the story over and over again.
The last week in April I spent a few days in Washington with Lane. I saw where he was from. On the outskirts of a small town about an hour north of the tricities lies the famous Davidson Farm. The reason I say famous is because Lane talks about it so much that I felt I had already been there. We did all kinds of enjoyable things while we were there, but the highlight of the trip is when we talk about getting married and both of us felt so good about it. That was the turning point.
Its been two weeks since then and Lane proposed just this last Monday. I still feel a little shocked with all that has happened in the last couple weeks. This relationship must be blessed by the angels above because we have already seen miracle. The week before the engagement, I was still looking at rings, not finding anything that I was excited about. We had looked at several stores while we were in washington and my roommate and I had been looking since then with no luck. Well, obviously that changed because I now have the most beautiful ring on my finger. Seriously, it is my most favorite ring ever. The crazy thing is that Lane ordered it over the internet. The only ring we were excited about was one on the Kays jewelers websight that was only available through the internet. Lane decided to order it just so I could try it on and decide if I liked it. What a gamble huh? Well, that isn't the only gamble that was made that week. Lane also decided to surprise me with an earlier than expected engagement. The ring wasn't supose to be in until wednesday the 12th, but Lane must have prayed really hard because it came on the 10th the very day Lane flew into Salt Lake with plans to ask me to marry him. I was at work on Monday and had no idea that Lane was inching his way closer to me. It was my third day in a row of work and if you have ever worked 39 hours in three days, you might understand how I felt when I got off of work. I was exhausted and my work day wasnt technically over until after my softball banquet. I had forgotten to tell Lane about the banquet, so he had to wait until after. Poor guy. If I would have known he was waiting to propose I might have been a little quicker about it. I even decided to drop by FHE after my banquet for a few minutes...how nice of me huh?
Earlier at work i had received an accidental text from Lane about calling Daniel, his roommate, after I got off work and he would bring something over me. When I text him back asking him what he was talking about, he handled the situation smoothing and told me that Daniel had a mother's day gift for me and I needed to call him. I texted him back telling him that I would. Five hours later, it actually happened. I called Dan after I got back from FHE and he came over with a rose and a letter. I was impressed by Lane's determination to give me a gift for mother's day...I am technically a future mother. At the end of the letter, Lane told me to go to the spot where we first held hands to receive the continuation of the letter he had written. I was a little disappointed I had to put my shoes back on, but it was a little chilly outside. I went out to the front of the complex were we had first held hands and looked up as the letter had instructed. All I saw was stars until Dan walked by pointing at another Rose and a letter on a nearby tree. Good thing Dan was so helpful, I might not have ever found it. I sat down on the stairs and began to read. The letter made me miss Lane. We was so kind talking about how he had felt about me when we were dating. I had tears come to my eyes, but when i read the end of the letter which instructed me to go to the back of the Provo temple for the ending of the letter, I was dried up with curiosity. Was he here? In Provo? I decided to venture and drive up there. That was a long drive. I felt all nervous inside! I didn't know for sure, but why would he lead me there and him not be there?? But, the ring isn't even here? I had many of those kinds of thoughts. I parked the car in the parking lot on the oppisite side of the sidewalk going to the back of the temple only because it was the only gate open. I walked infront of the temple and toward the back. As I got closer to the back of the temple. I heard something and saw some kind of shadow...I figured it was probably Lane(later Lane told me that he was expecting me to come the other way so he was hiding on the side I was walking by...poor guy again...so he had to quickly move and thats when I had seen the shadow). I must say...I was pretty excited. I walked to were I could see there was another flower and a letter. I skipped to the end of the letter where it told me to look up and think of him...but I didn't look up then of course because I had to give him a second to get into position. I read the letter like he probably had planned. After a few minutes, I looked up and there he was sitting at the base of the temple. I smiled and he walked...well, kind of ran to me. He told me that he loved me and then got down on one knee. I was kind of in shock and at the brim in tears, so I was thankful that the word yes even came out of my mouth. He showed me the ring and to my atonishment...it was the ring we had just barely picked out. It was beautiful. The most beautiful ring ever. He kissed me...which by the way...cold sores should not be aloud to exist on engagement days. I hope Lane doesn't get a cold sore for kissing me that night.
After that, it was just so nice to have him with me unexpectedly. I do love this man very much. I had missed him. Since then, we have been at my house in Idaho Falls sharing the news with my family, more specifically my brother, Jake, who just got back from his mission on Wednesday and my other brother, Chad, who had special permission to call for mother's day on Thursday so he could talk with my brother Jake too. We came back to provo late thursday night and Lane left on his plane Friday morning. I am alone again, but I now i have a beautiful ring on my left ring finger to remind me of the man i love. It makes me feel not so lonely. We are planning on August 20th for the big day and may I say...I am so excited to spend my life with Lane. He is more than what I have even hoped for.
